Twenty-six candidates for local offices made their way to a political forum Oct. 16 at the Palmetto Club.
With just 22 days before the General Elections, candidates for local offices are scrambling to be seen, heard and endorsed. Such was the case Tuesday night when candidates gathered at the Palmetto Club in FishHawk Ranch at the invitation of the FishHawk Ranch Homeowners Association. There, they were seen and heard by a smattering of interested residents, attributing the light turnout in the county's largest voting precinct to the fact that the political forum was on the same night as the presidential debate. Sixteen candidates running for local, state and federal offices had a chance to sway south county voters during a political forum held Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa/Riverview/Brandon. The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the forum to educate voters. The candidates addressed a large crowd and spoke on various issues affecting the community. Although disagreeing on platform issues, the candidates were united in reminding the crowd the importance of voting in this crucial General Election Nov. 6. The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, has invited candidates to speak at the 2012 Political Forum scheduled for tonight, Oct. 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa East/Riverview/Brandon, 4328 Garden Vista Dr., Riverview.
