The interstate was shut down in southern Hillsborough County and northern Manatee County on Saturday afternoon because of a Ruskin brushfire.
Updated, 8:37 p.m.: Interstate 75 has reopened in both directions following Saturday's brushfire in Ruskin, TBO.com reports. Earlier: The northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in southern Hillsborough County and northern Manatee County were shut down to traffic Saturday afternoon because of a large brush fire affecting about 30 acres in Ruskin. The Florida Highway Patrol advised motorists to proceed with caution and to seek alternate routes such as U.S. 301 and U.S. 41. All north and southbound lanes had been closed earlier in the afternoon between exit 240 in Ruskin and exit 229 in Parrish. A single-engine aircraft with three people on board on the median, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. No injuries were reported, but fuel may have been spilled.
A single-engine aircraft made an emergency landing Thursday morning in the median on Interstate 75 near Gibsonton Drive, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. The pilot and two passengers were not injured, officials said, but about 60 gallons of fuel may have been spilled on the ground. Traffic was backed up in both directions on I-75, TBO.com reports. The aircraft did not crash but sustained damage on landing sometime around 9:30 a.m., according to a media release. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue's hazardous materials team is on the scene along with law enforcement. No road closures were immediately reported. Stay tuned to Patch for updates on this story.

The detour will continue on Friday night
Drivers using the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway tonight and tomorrow night will face a detour as construction on the expressway proceeds. Westbound traffic heading into Tampa or the MacDill Air Force Base will be detoured off the Selmon Expressway between 50th Street and 22nd Street from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday and Friday. All westbound traffic will be directed off the Selmon Expressway at 50th Street (Exit 11), detoured west on State Road 60 (Adamo Drive), then back onto the expressway using the 22nd Street entrance ramp. Tolls will be suspended for entering the westbound Selmon Expressway at 22nd Street during the detour hours only. In addition, the southbound Interstate 75 Exit 254 ramp to U.S. 301 may be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. …

Closures will begin tonight
Be prepared for traffic delays as the Department of Transportation repairs ramps leading to Interstate 75 starting this weekend. The DOT announced that the northbound I-75 exit to northbound U.S. 301 (Exit 254) will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, and from 11 p.m., Jan. 21, to 5 a.m., Jan. 24. Traffic will be routed to the southbound U.S. 301 ramp, then will make a U-turn south of Bloomingdale Avenue to go north on U.S. 301. Two lanes I-75 also will be closed in either direction from south of Progress Boulevard (south of U.S. 301, Exit 254) to north of State Road 60 (Exit 257) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, and Sunday through Friday nights, Jan. 16 - 21.
