Herbert Bowers, 65, of Riverview was one of six men arrested recently as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Predator Unit cracked down on child pornography through “Operation Cyber Storm.” Deputies say Bowers, who lives at 9514 Sunnyoak Drive, was charged with 117 counts of possession of child pornography as a result of the operation, which sought to tamp down on individuals countywide who were “proliferating illicit graphic material involving very young children,” a sheriff’s office media release states. Nadia Renee Bishop, 23, was arrested at her Bloomingdale East home Feb. 14.
A 23-year-old Bloomingdale East woman is facing 15 counts of possessing child pornography. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, agents from multiple agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, executed a search warrant on the home of Nadia Renee Bishop, 4131 Moreland Dr., Valrico. During the search, agents reportedly found numerous images of child pornography on Bishop's computer. She was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail where her bail was set at $112,500.

John Charles Wingo is charged with 100 counts of possessing child pornography.
A 64-year-old Sun City Center man is facing 100 counts of possessing child pornography. John Charles Wingo, 64, of 101 Cambridge Trail #1196, Sun City Center, is charged with possessing computer files depicting children ages 1 to 13 years old engaged in sexual activities. On Dec. 7 at 3 p.m., Hillsborough County detectives with the Internet Predator Unit executed a court-authorized search warrant at Wingo's home following a two-month investigation. Detectives seized one computer, several CD/DVDs, mini video cassettes, SanDisks and thumb drives. Additional charges are pending a complete forensic review of the computer and computer equipment.

A Valrico man is facing 20 counts of possession of child pornography after the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office found computer files depicting children engaged in sexual activities. Derek Michael Morgan, 24, of 2830 Buckhorn Preserve Blvd., Valrico, admitted to downloading the pornography when questioned by detectives. Detectives with the Internet Predator Unit discovered the pornographic computer files executing a search warrant on Morgan's Valrico home Oct. 24 following a two-month-long investigation. A Riverview man is facing 10 counts of possession of child pornography following a two-month investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Internet Predator Unit. According to the sheriff's office, Darren Milo Shew, 20, of 12009 Baytree Dr., Riverview, was arrested July 18 after detectives executed a search warrant at his home. One computer, cell phone and SD cards were seized. A subsequent computer forensic revealed that Shew was in possession of files depicting children approximately 4-16 years of age engaged in sexual activities. The sheriff's office said Shew admitted to possessing the child pornography. Shew remains in jail on a $75,000 bond.

U.S. Army soldier Thomas Meyer, who was stationed at MacDill Air Force Base, was arrested by federal agents Wednesday.
A U.S. Army soldier from Valrico was arrested by federal agents on child pornography and obscenity charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Wednesday in a media release. Thomas K. Meyer, 42, who was stationed at MacDill Air Force Base, allegedly engaged in sexually explicit chats with a 15-year-old Pennsylvania girl and an undercover detective in Kentucky whom Meyer thought was a 13-year-old girl. According to a criminal complaint, Meyer asked the 15-year-old girl to send him three nude photographs online and discussed meeting her at a hotel for sex. Meyer is also alleged to have sent explicit videos of himself to the agent he believed was a 13-year-old and encouraged the supposed girl to send him sexually explicit pictures of herself. …
