Veterans Day Program Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, Funeral Home and Crematory will host its annual Veterans Day program Sunday, Nov. 11 at 8:30 a.m. at 6919 Providence Rd., Riverview. County Commissioner Al Higginbotham will be the guest speaker. The event also will include special music and a flag ceremony. Veterans Day Tribute Veterans Memorial Park, 4602 U.S. 301 N., Tampa, will host its 48th annual Veterans Day Tribute Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker is Col. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles not only salutes Floridians who have served in America’s armed forces on Veterans Day but throughout the year. “On this Veterans Day, we thank Floridians who have served our country,” said DHSMV Executive Director Julie L. Jones. “We are pleased to be involved with the community of veterans to help them and recognize them for the work they do and have done.” Recruiting Veterans DHSMV is always looking for qualified candidates to fill its ranks. The Florida Highway Patrol is working with the Florida National Guard and visiting job fairs at military installations and other locations to let service members and veterans know about career opportunities. The community is hosting a Veterans Day event Nov. 10.
To honor those Americans who served under the five branches of the military, the FishHawk Ranch Homeowners Association is hosting a Veterans Day Event Saturday, Nov. 10 at Park Square from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. This free event will feature the New Directions Orchestra and Chorus and guest speakers from past wars – World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War and current conflicts. Residents will also have the opportunity to sign a memorial banner listing names of veterans who have served.

As people across America recognize men and women who have served in the armed forces, students in Bloomindale and Riverview schools will get a day off. All Hillsborough County Public Schools are closed Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of the holiday. Most Hillsborough County government offices will also shut down for the day. Lutz students return to class on Tuesday, Nov. 13, but they won’t have to hit the books for too long. The Thanksgiving/Fall Break runs Nov. 19-22, according to the school district’s calendar. Thanks to all the veterans who have served our country! Banks, government offices and libraries will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. Garbage collection will continue as scheduled. Bloomingdale band, orchestra and choir to perform at international parade
London's calling. But the members of the Bloomingdale High School music department needs funds to get there. The approximately 600 members of the Bloomingdale High School Rajun Bulls Band, Bloomingdale Orchestra, the Crimson Guard and the Elite Ambassadors Show Choir have been selected to perform in the 25th anniversary New Year's Day parade in London. They were nominated for the honor by a group of judges composed mostly of college marching band members.
