With the General Election over, the Supervisor of Elections is closing its satellite office in Riverview.
Like the General Election, the Supervisor of Elections satellite office in Riverview is now history. The satellite office at 10439 Gibsonton Dr., Riverview, along with another satellite office in the Citrus Park area, has closed its door effective Nov. 21. "These two offices not only allowed us to effectively and efficiently serve the voters in our geographically diverse county, but we were also able to utilize both locales for training, resupplying our early voting and election day polling places, and both locations served as great sites for us to quickly receive and upload our results on Election Night," said Earl Lennard, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections. Voters waited for more than an hour at the Bloomingdale Regional Library.
Arriving at the Bloomingdale Regional Library Saturday afternoon, Alberto Rivera didn't hesitate to join the line of early voters that extended down the library's driveway and onto the sidewalk adjacent to Bloomingdale Avenue. "I'm here to vote," said a determined Rivera. "Heck, you stand in longer lines at Disney World." An estimated 400 voters waited more than an hour for the privilege of exercising their democratic right. Candidates Gail Gottlieb, D-Brandon, running for state representative, and Bob Henriquez, D-Tampa, a candidate for property appraiser, took …

The satellite office is slated to open in the fall in the U.S. 301 and Big Bend Road area.
Trying to avoid a repeat of long lines at polling places, county elections officials plan to open two new satellite offices in Riverview and Northwest Hillsborough this fall. “We want to take some of the pressure off early voting sites, like [the] Bloomingdale and Jimmy Keel” library branches, said Craig Latimer, chief of staff for the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections. Latimer made the announcement Aug. 9 at a meeting of East Hillsborough Democrats. The satellite offices will offer vote-by-mail ballots and act as drop-off points for those ballots. Residents will also be able to register to vote at the offices. The satellite offices are slated to open in October or November, in the U.S. 301 and Big Bend Road area and in the …

So let's take a moment to look at how the only state who has any working knowledge about how …   more ›
