Jeff Houck joins the crowd as a fan of Bloomingdale Avenue's popular pub.
The food writer for the Tampa Tribune is a local Valrico resident, and he appears to be a supporter of area businesses when they bring something good and new to our area. Houck posted a great review on The Stein & Vine. In it, he talks owner Ty Mathis. It's well worth your time to give it a read. For more on Stein & Vine, and other local eateries check out some of our coverage on Patch:

The children's boutique recently moved into a new location, but the owner says medical issues are forcing her to close the doors.
Tammy Hicks, owner of Gumballs & Overalls children's boutique moved her shop about one block last year to a larger space with more visibility at 3239 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Valrico. "Due to medical issues, I have decided to close my Gumballs and Overalls Valrico location at the end of May," she wrote. The store supports more than 140 local vendors who create everything from tutus and fairy wings to crocheted hats and monogrammed T-shirts. Hicks, who relocated to the area from Michigan, brought many of the items with her from the original Gumballs and Overalls store she opened there in 2009…

The Red Fork Cafe in Bradon specializes in authentic Caribbean fare, in a warmly decorated restaurant at the corner of Kings Avenue and Lumsden Road.
Esther Etienne has brought to Brandon what she said it sorely needed, a restaurant serving authentic Caribbean cuisine. At the Red Fork Café, at the corner of Lumsden Road and Kings Avenue, Etienne serves up fresh dishes focused on rich flavor, including signature dishes of jerk chicken, “succulent oxtails” and snapper. At her Brandon restaurant, “we’re all Caribbean, we’re Cuba, Montinique and Haiti,” she said. “We bring that flavor home.” While the café is newly opened, she added, the people who dine at the Red Fork Café are spreading the word. “We have people telling us all the time, ‘My neighbor sent me here,’ ” Etienne said. Read the complete story at our sister site, Brandon Patch. The restaurant is at 715 West Lumsden Road. Call: …
