Bloomingdale Student Surprised by Perfect SAT Score

Ian Ludden knew he did well on the math portion, but he was not so sure about the reading portion.

A Bloomingdale High School student who is one of just four students in Hillsborough County schools to ace the SATs told TBO.com that he was surprised by the perfect score. Ian Ludden, 18, took the college entrance exam in his junior year. Ian told TBO.com: "I thought I had gotten a perfect on the math section, but I also thought I had a few questions wrong on the reading portion."  He was wrong. Ian earned a perfect score of 1600. He is in an elite club. According to TBO.com, there were only 360 perfect scores on the SAT out of 1.6 million students who took the exam in 2012. How Did Your High School Rank in the SAT?

The state has released the 2012 SAT scores.

SAT scores in Florida are up, and that spells good news for seniors striving to get into the college of their choice. The Department of Education recently released the 2012 SAT scores for Florida's high school seniors. Compared to last year, Florida’s average critical reading SAT score is up five points; the average math score is up three points; and the average writing score is up five points. Florida’s average scores in the reading, mathematics and writing portions of the SAT were 492, 492, and 476, respectively. That's a little lower than the national average of 496, 514, and 488, but Florida Education Commissioner Pam Stewart is focusing on the positive. “I am pleased that our students are improving their SAT performance,” she said in …

District Announces Dates and Locations of ACT and SAT Exams

Exams will be held throughout the county throughout the year.

News Report The Hillsborough County School District has announced dates for ACT and SAT exams. Eligible students from any school in Hillsborough County can register to take ACT and SAT exams at any of the listed locations, regardless of the school they attend. Students can register online for the ACT at www.act.org, or call 1-319-337-1270. SAT registration is available online at www.collegeboard.com, or by calling 1-866-756-7346. Registration is $50 for the SAT. Registration for the ACT is $50.50 or $35 without the writing exam. Late registration for the ACT is an additional $22, and an additional $27 for the SAT. Free SAT Prep Courses Offered to Hillsborough County Students

The tests are open to students in grades nine through 12.

Hillsborough County Public Schools is offering free SAT prep courses Saturdays in October, February, March, April and May at various high school locations for district students in grades nine through 12. Each prep course will be facilitated by a qualified teacher using the College Board’s SAT online course. Students will receive a login ID and password and participate via a webinar. Students will be able to continue accessing the online course from school and home. Student applications to attend a prep course are available in high school guidance offices.
