Newsome Victory Celebration Tonight at Park Square Pizza

K Force will entertain from 7 to 10 p.m.

The Newsome High School Athletic Booster Club is inviting the community to celebrate its big win over the Durant High School Cougars football team Friday night by joining the players and fans at Park Square Pizza,16132 Churchview Dr., Lithia, The Wolves. led by coach Ken Hiscock, triumphed over its district rival 21-14 in the Class 7A-Region 2 semifinal, ending Durant's undefeated season. Newsome now advances to play Kissimmee Osceola next Friday. In the meantime, Park Square Pizza owner Salvatore Varotta is helping the team celebrate the big win tonight. Pep Rally to Support Newsome Wolves

The fundraiser for the Newsome Athletic Club will take place Friday, Aug. 31.

Park Square Pizza is helping Newsome High School kick off the new school year by hosting a Newsome Wolves Pep Rally Friday, Aug. 31 from 7 to 10 p.m. In addition to promoting school spirit and raising funds for the Newsome Athletic Club, the event will include food specials, live music and a chance to win prizes. The pep rally at Park Square Pizza, 16132 Churchview Dr., in Park Square, is the prelude to the Wolves' first game of the season Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. against Tampa Bay Tech at Newsome High School. Patch Give-A-Ton Food Drive Smashes its Goal

Thanks to our readers, we collected more than double our target.

Back in April, we asked Patch readers throughout the Tampa Bay area to assist us in collecting food to help feed families in need this summer. Our goal was humble. We wanted to collect 2,000 pounds of nonperishable goods from the 19 communities we serve in the Bay area. We should have known better than set such a conservative goal. After all, our readers and business partners are awesome! So awesome, in fact, that we crushed that goal of 2,000 pounds. When all was said and done and the last cans were picked up the first week of June, our final weigh-in brought us to just under 5,000 pounds collected. We more than doubled what we’d hoped for! Park Square Pizza Offers Much More Than Pizza

Salvatore Varotta brings his 20 years of experience baking to Park Square Pizza in FishHawk Ranch.

It's called Park Square Pizza. But customers who peruse the menu will easily see that there's much more than pizza here. Owner and FishHawk Ranch resident Salvatore Varotta designed the menu with FishHawk Ranch families in mind, offering a variety of dishes to suit every taste and craving. The Bronx native owned delis and bakeries in New York before relocating to Florida 15 years ago to serve as kitchen manager of The Cheesecake Factory.
