Original Leena's Chocolates Closes

Leena and Anthony Caligiure have closed their chocolate shop after five years in business.

After five years of satisfying the community's cravings for chocolate, Anthony and Leena Caligiure have closed the doors of The Original Leena's Chocolates. The FishHawk Ranch couple, who relocated to the area with their three children in 2004 from New York City, first opened their specialty chocolate store in 2008, working out of a gourmet kitchen inside Famous Tate's appliance store in Valrico. A year later, they moved to 3476 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Valrico and then relocated to Plaza Bella on Bloomingdale Avenue in October 2011. Plaza Bella to Celebrate Christmas in July

The event will take place July 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The hot, humid weather may say otherwise. But to the merchants at Plaza Bella on Bloomingdale Avenue in Valrico, it's the season for giving. Merchants at Plaza Bella will celebrate Christmas in July Friday, July 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. (Green Boutique will be open until 8 p.m.) Customers are invited to get a jump on the holiday season with Orange Home Accessories, The Original Leena's Chocolate and The Green Boutique. Customers will enjoy a wine tasting by Cork & Olive, appetizers and live jazz music from saxophone player Jerry Kenny and singer Velvet Leonard. Lightning Working With Local Businesses on Treats for Suites

The Original Leena's Chocolates and DaSilva's Coffee are looking to partner with the Tampa Bay Lightning and other pro sports teams to provide a special brand of treats at their stadiums and arenas.

Among the businessmen and financially blessed who watch Tampa Bay Lightning play from posh suites, a local business is putting its product into action. The Original Leena's Chocolates, 1048 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, has partnered with the Tampa Bay Lightning and other Tampa Bay area sports franchises to offer a special line of treats for ticket holders in the executive suites of their stadiums. The partnership developed toward the end of last season hockey season and has bloomed into an enterprise of its own. "We received such a great response toward the end of last season that the Lightning reached out to us for this season," said Anthony Caligiure, co-owner of Leena's.
