Bloomingdale-Riverview Schools Closed Monday, Tuesday

All Hillsborough County public schools are closing up for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Bloomingdale-Riverview students who weren’t quite ready to hit the books after the long winter vacation are getting the reprieve they wanted. All Hillsborough County public schools are closed Monday, Jan. 21 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The schools join a host of other government agencies shuttering their doors in recognition of the slain civil rights leader. Public schools are also closed Tuesday, Jan. 22 for students only. Teachers need to report to work. Hillsborough schools close out their second grading period and first semester on Friday, Jan. 19. Garbage Collection Not Stopping for Holiday

Residents who put their trash out on the curb for Monday pickup don’t have to change their plans for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

While most Hillsborough County government offices and schools are closed Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Hillsborough County’s trash collection services will operate without skipping a beat. That means anyone who normally has garbage pickup on Mondays, shouldn’t skip bringing their trash to the curb. The county has announced there will be no interruption in service in regards to solid waste collection. This includes garbage, recyclables and yard waste pickups in unincorporated Hillsborough, Tampa Palms, Hunter’s Green and New Tampa.
