It's been an eventful year since Jeremy Rosado was voted off "American Idol" as a Top 13 finisher. He's set to release his first single, "Don't Be Afraid," on iTunes and Amazon, and then his CD, at the Nativity Catholic Church Youth Center.
What at first might appear to be bad news Jeremy Rosado is taking in stride as a "blessing in disguise," as he notes on his Facebook page, in annoucing the delayed release of his single, "Don't Be Afraid." The single, featuring Pablo Villatoro, formerly of Group 1 Crew, is scheduled to be released online, at iTunes and Amazon and more, on April 2. The original release date had been given as March 26. "Sorry guys, but [some things] you just can't control," Rosado said on his Facebook page. But, he added, "God is great through it all" as he asks his fans to "tell everyone" about the upcoming release. When he heard there was going to be a "Welcome Back" party in his honor, Jeremy Rosado joked that he thought the only people who would show up were his parents and siblings. But the one-time "American Idol" contestant and Valrico resident underestimated his fans. More than 1,500 people were on hand to see him perform at Uncle Mike's Smokehouse Grill, 9847 East Adamo Dr., Tampa, on Saturday, March 24. The day was made all the more special because it marked Rosado's 20th birthday, an occasion that didn't go unnoticed by the crowd, which honored him with a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday." For his part, Rosado said he's been overwhelmed by the attention and grateful for the support he's received during his tenure and after as a …

The Tampa Bay community is invited to Uncle Mike’s Smokehouse Grill at Brandon Harley on Saturday, March 24 to celebrate the ‘American Idol’ journey of Jeremy Rosado.
Wendy Ocasio responded as a mother would to her child’s brush with fame, which for her son, Jeremy Rosado, had an ending that promises a bright beginning. “It was such an emotional roller coaster,” Ocasio said. “What he got out of all of this is that he sees the opportunity for his dreams to come true.” But first, a collective congratulations from a hometown community eager to get an up-close look at the talents of Valrico resident Rosado, whose voice captured the imagination of a nation and the wild-card save of “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez. Rosado was eliminated a week later. “The Tampa Bay area will be showing its support for Jeremy Rosado by receiving him with a huge community bash,” said Sara Leffler-Ocasio, in a Facebook …

Bloomingdale Patch reported earlier today a hometown reaction to the return of Jeremy Rosado to Brandon, amid speculation that he might get a second shot after the ousting of "American Idol" contestant Jermaine Jones. Jones reportedly concealed arrests, and he tweeted today, "Awww, I will no longer be on the show." (From Fox News Latino, 'Gentle Giant' Jermaine Jones Gets Kicked Off American Idol.) Last week Jones, along with Rosado, placed among the bottom three of the Top 13 contestants, with Rosado getting the lone boot after a judges' weigh-in. Rosado, who is from Valrico, is a student at the Brandon campus of Hillsborough Community College and works at Bay Area Infectious Disease Associates in Brandon. He graduated from Durant High in…
Jeremy Rosado is on a press tour in the Tampa Bay area after an emotional homecoming at Tampa International Airport, where he and his family first learned contestant Jermaine Jones is off the show.
With a tweet today, Jermaine Jones told the world that his run for this season’s “American Idol” crown has come to an abrupt end. So, what does that mean for Jeremy Rosado, a Valrico resident and Durant High grad, who was the sole contestant booted off the show last week, by judges’ choice? Will he be asked to return? “I don’t know,” said his mother, Wendy Ocasio, in a phone interview shortly after People magazine posted its account of the development at 10 a.m. today, March 14. “I would hope so, it would be nice, but I don’t know how they would play it out, without making it unfair for the other contestants.” For now, Ocasio is just deeply proud of her son and his accomplishments and is firmly committed to helping him achieve his dreams…

Hometown supporters of Valrico's Jeremy Rosado talked about the teen singer's bright future March 8 at the Brandon Ale House watch party.
In the end, there were tears and nothing but praise for Jeremy Rosado, whose family and friends stood by the "American Idol” hopeful, a Valrico resident and 2009 Durant High grad. At the Brandon Ale House on March 8, a modest-sized group of well-wishers clasped their hands and held their collective breath as “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez announced on behalf of her peers that Rosado’s televised journey had come to an end. “I wish I was here, I wish I was just there to hold him,” said his mother, Wendy Ocasio, who added that she had a brief talk with her son earlier in the day. “He said he will accept whatever God’s will is and he was at peace,” she said. "I totally believe great things are coming his way.” Chris Bates, the general …

It's the end of an "American Idol" dream for 2009 Durant High School graduate Jeremy Rosado. On tonight's "American Idol" show, Rosado was visibly saddened to learn judges Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez had decided he should be eliminated from the competition. When asked for a response by host Ryan Secrest, Rosado simply said, "Thanks. It's been awesome." The decision didn't come as a surprise to viewers. Earlier in the show, judge Steven Tyler said he thought Rosado's performance last night wasn't up to par and that he should be the one voted off tonight's show. "Jeremy deserves to go," said Tyler. Reacting to Tyler's comment, Rosado said, "It stinks. I know last night wasn’t my best." In addition to a less-than-…
Will Jeremy Rosado advance to the next round of "American Idol" competition?
All day Wendy Ocasio was a nervous wreck, but who wouldn’t be in her shoes? Her son, Jeremy, finds out tonight on national television if his dream to become this season’s American Idol advances one round closer to fruition. “OK. Is he going home or staying?” Ocasio said in an interview March 8, hours before the 8 p.m. airing of the live results show on FOX television. “If he moves on, I’ll just move on right along with him. If he comes home, he’ll come home our American idol. Either way, it’s a great accomplishment.” Such were the sentiments as well last night at the “American Idol” watch party at the Brandon Ale House. There, Rosado’s family and friends gathered to root on the hometown favorite. Rosado, 19, is a student at the Brandon …
