The KKC International Baccalaureate Modeled Program is visiting nursing homes in Tampa.
Students at Kid's Community College-Southeast Elementary Charter School in Riverview are helping to make the season brighter for senior citizens this holiday season. The kindergarten through second-grade students in the International Baccalaureate Modeled program has partnered with Feed Our Children Ministries to present a holiday program to nursing home residents. The children performed Christmas songs and passed out gifts provided by Feed Our Children Ministries to residents at The Inn at University Village in Tampa Dec. 8. The Cougars Care Club donated nonperishable food to the Brandon Emergency Care Help Organization.
Kid's Community College Southeast Elementary Charter School in Riverview is helping to meet the needs of the community's hungry. The International Baccalaureate program's Cougar Care Club has been collecting donations of nonperishable food for the Emergency Care Help Organization in Brandon, which provides food and clothing to needy residents. The Cougar Care Club is an after-school organization that focuses on community service. It meets each Thursday at 3:15 p.m. Community service is one of the elements of the International Baccalaureate program. In its continued commitment to serve the students of the Riverview area, Kid's Community Colllege is building a new state-of-the-art facility and is adding an elementary International Baccalaureate program. Last week, the Hillsborough County School Board unanimously approved the charter application for a new Kid's Community College facility. The new two-story 50,000-square-foot facility is now under construction just west of Lowe's Home Improvement Center on Gibsonton Drive and Maghog Road in Riverview. Expected to be completed in July, it will house the existing Kid's Community College elementary and middle schools, now located in Lake St. Charles in Riverview, along with a new preschool. It does take a minimum of three years to become an AUTHORIZED IB PYP school and not all schools that apply are necessarily authorized after three years. Currently, there are only two public schools in Hillsborough County that are officially authorized by the IBO to provide the Primary Years Programme.
