Buddy's Owner Lost His Home; Now the Rat Terrier Needs a New One

Buddy is a 6-year-old rat terrier who loves to cuddle.

Buddy was given up to an animal shelter after his owner lost his home. The shelter was planning to euthanize the 6-year-old rat terrier who was deemed too old to be adoptable when Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue stepped in and rescued the little guy. Now the pet rescue is seeking a permanent home for Buddy. He foster mom says Buddy is very sweet and friendly, loving both children and adults as well as other dogs. He loves car rides, trips to the doggie park, long walks and cuddling. "Buddy is the ultimate little companion, with a deep, sensitive soul and fierce loyalty," said his foster mom, Sue. "If there ever was an appropriate name for him, it is Buddy. He truly is a great little dog." He's a healthy little guy who has been neutered, …

Big Dog Seeks Family With Big Heart

Dakota is an 18-month-old mastiff mix.

Dakota is an amiable 18-month-old 80-pound male mastiff mix who desperately needs a home. He has been neutered, has all his shots, has a microchip and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. He is definitely a people lover. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but he is very athletic and sometimes doesn't realize how big he is when he's playing. However, his foster family has been working with him on containing his excitement better. He likes to wrestle with other dogs his size, lounge by the pool on hot days and gnaw on a bone when he can get one. With additional training, he would make an excellent service dog. Anyone interested in adopting Dakota can contact Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue.

Dog Left Alone When Owner Died on Road to Recovery

Bruno is making improvements each day but donations are still needed for his medical expenses.

He bears little resemblance to the German shepherd that was discovered in a home alone following the death of his owner in July. Back then, Bruno was near death. He was starving, covered with mange and had open, bleeding sores on his feet, making it difficult for him to move or lay down. No one knows how long he was left alone without food and water after his owner died. Hearing about Bruno's circumstances, Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue in Lithia, founded by Lori Hoffman, promptly came to his rescue. Bruno remains under veterinary care but has made drastic improvements, said Hoffman. "Although he seems to have recovered from most of his issues, we are still battling with MRSA," said Hoffman. MRSA is a virulent antibiotic-resistance staph …

Snowflake Wants a Home in Time for Christmas

This beautiful German shepherd mix was scheduled to be euthanized.

Snowflake was just days away from being euthanized at a kill shelter when a rescue group stepped in and saved her. She's a healthy year-old German shepherd mix, on the small side, weighing just 45 pounds. She's very playful and loves kids, especially when they throw the ball with her. She is good with other dogs, shares her toys nicely, has no food aggression and is just plain curious about cats. She will need obedience training and a family with the patience to work with a dog that needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation. She is a very sweet, affectionate dog who will make some family an ideal pet. Snowflake is house and crate trained, loves to lay on her doggy bed and enjoys going for walks. She is a bundle of energy and would …

Previously Neglected Pure White Shepherd Seeks Home

Angel is very affectionate and loves kids and other dogs.

She's gorgeous now, but when Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue found Angel, she had a collar embedded in her neck and someone had hacked her fur off with a razer. A collar becomes embedded when it's placed on a dog's neck when the dog is young and then no one bothers to loosen it as the dog matures. The too-tight collar actually becomes embedded in the dog's neck, causing open wounds and pain. Angel is a solid white semi long-haired German shepherd with beautiful brown eyes. She's about 2 years old. After her mistreatment, she's now slowly coming out of her shell. She would be best suited for someone who has a quiet lifestyle and not many visitors. She is not scared of people. She just cowers when she's introduced to new situations and becomes …
