As principal, he added, "I just drive the bus," after which he applauded the work of teachers, students, parents, coaches, school administrators and groups and organizations, including Angela Slater, who this year registered her 500th win as a high school softball coach in Hillsborough County. Heilmann said he hoped the business leaders knew what was "going on at 11311 Boyette Road, besides the traffic jams," in reference to the school's address and the ongoing road-widening construction from FishHawk Boulevard through Boyette Road. The chamber paid tribute to the business people who have supported the chamber and community throughout the year at its annual dinner Jan. 18.
For Lisa Kennedy, owner of Alley Cat Pest Control in Riverview, the third time proved a charm. During the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce annual dinner Jan. 18, Kennedy first appeared on stage to open the event by singing the National Anthem. The 2012 honorary mayor of Riverview then followed up by introducing those attending the dinner to the 2013 honorary mayor, Elijah Heath. But, to her surprise, Kennedy was called up to the stage a third time -- this time to receive the Business Person of the Year award from last year's recipient Erik Butler of TakeOut Butler. State-certified pest control operators, Kennedy and her husband, Cliff, started Alley Cat Pest Control in 2007 and quickly became involved with the Riverview community. In …

Thatcher, a member of the chamber's board and owner of Thatcher Properites in Riverview, was among seven chamber members honored at the Friday evening affair held at the International Independent Showman's Association. Standing next to her 6-foot-8-inch predecessor, 2013 Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce President Donna Lee Fore looked downright diminutive. However, there's nothing small about Fore's goals for the year. At a Western-themed annual dinner Friday, Jan. 18, Fore accepted the reins of the chamber's leadership from 2012 President Ed Booth, vowing to uphold the chamber's 47-year-old tradition of supporting the community and the businesses that serve it. With nearly 850 members, Fore said the chamber should focus not only on supporting the community's businesses but also on improving its quality of life. To that end, Fore said her goals this year are to build a more robust economic development team at the chamber, to forge a stronger …
