Stop by the Hillsborough County Extension Service today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m for free family-friendly hands-on activities and exhibits, make-and-take home projects, presentations and garden tours. Hillsborough County Extension, a cooperative service between the county and the University of Florida, is hosting an open house today at its main office, 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner. 2. To help residents get ready for hurricane season, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico, is hosting a hurricane preparedness workshop Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. 1. Join Brandon Times general manager Tony Del Castillo as he cooks for a cause at the Copper Bell Cafe May 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise funds for LifeCare of Brandon. Del Castillo will whip up some garlic shrimp pasta, a classic dish of penne pasta cooked Al Dente and topped with housemade garlic butter sauce featuring locally grown tomatoes, fresh garlic, white wine and Parmesan cheese. Served with fresh bread sticks and butter, the cost will be $10, with proceeds going to LifeCare of Brandon. LifeCare is a nonprofit in Brandon that helps women facing unplanned pregnancies.
