Closure at Major Intersection Causing Traffic Problems

One portion of Boyette Rd. is closed and other portions near the intersection are down to one lane.

Drivers looking to travel near the intersection of Boyette Rd., Fishhawk Blvd. and Bell Shoals Rd. should allow some extra time this weekend.  The section of Boyette Rd. that travels south of the intersection is closed while crews work on the road as part of the project to widen Boyette Rd.  On Saturday morning, Feb. 23, traffic headed West on Fishhawk Blvd. was backup up more than usual. Some areas are reduced to one lane as well. Cars are being rerouted through the parking lots of the plaza on the Southeast corner of the intersection, behind 7-Eleven. Traffic is also being detoured on the road behind Walgreens and into and out of the Boyette Springs neighborhood.  If you're traveling to that area over the weekend, it is advised that you …

What’s Going On With the Boyette Road-Widening Project?

Hillsborough County officials give a 2013 update on the $23.2-milion project to widen Boyette Road. A review of ongoing, completed and upcoming work as the project advances toward a 2014 completion date.

You don't have to tell commuters on Boyette, Bell Shoals and McMullen roads that things are messy for the morning and afternoon commutes. And, for that matter, the times in between. Hillsborough County officials gave a 2013 update on the progress of the $23.2-million project to widen Boyette Road from McMullen Road to Bell Shoals Road, which is considered the final phase of the three-phase project. Earlier phases widened Boyette Road from U.S. Highway 301 to Balm Riverview Road (completed July 2004) and from Balm Riverview Road to McMullen Road (completed May 2009). The third phase of widening, which began in August 2010 and covers about 2.6 miles, is expected to be completed by the spring of 2014, which would by then amount to about 1,…

Boyette Road Detour Scheduled This Weekend

According to Hillsborough County, construction at the intersection of Bell Shoals and Boyette roads necessitated the detour Nov. 16-19.

Be prepared for traffic tie-ups at the intersection of Bell Shoals and Boyette roads as the county detours traffic to accommodate construction at the intersection. According to Hillsborough County spokesman Steve Valdez, the detour will take place Nov. 16-19. Valdez said southbound traffic on Bell Shoals will be forced to take a right on Boyette Road at the intersection and then a left onto Deepbrook Drive in Boyette Springs. Deepbrook connects to a new road that doesn't yet have a name. That road will take drivers back to Boyette Road south of Bell Shoals Road.  "It's all being done to complete the Boyette widening project," said Valdez. But that's no consolation to the 20,000 drivers who use Boyette Road each day or the dozens of …
