Around this time each year, a decidedly festive transformation takes place in Pam and Joe Liguori's Bloomingdale East home. Like the homes of many Christmas lovers, every room in the Liguori house is decked out with an array of holiday decorations, including Pam Liguori's collection of snowmen, angels and Santa Claus figures. But the most dramatic change is in the couple themselves. Pam Liguori pulls her granny gown, mop cap and shawl out of storage while Joe airs out his white beard and Santa suit just in time to usher in the holidays as Bloomingdale's perennial Santa and Mrs. Claus. It's a cherished role the couple have now played for 26 years for the Bloomingdale Homeowners Association. And over the past two decades they've expanded …

By Bonnie Dyson An outstanding history of community service won accolades and a $2,000 Bloomingdale Community Scholarship for Christopher Cerjan, 17, at the June 19 meeting of the Bloomingdale Homeowner Association’s monthly board meeting. Cerjan, a 2012 Bloomingdale High School graduate, said he enjoys volunteering in the community. “I like reaching out to people and helping people, seeing the joy they get out of it.” For three years, Cerjan volunteered his time at an area food pantry, now closed. He then helped out at A Kid’s Place and now volunteers at Tampa Metropolitan Ministries. News Report The Bloomingdale Homeowners Association is recruiting players for its Spring Classic Golf Tournament, with proceeds dedicated to continued therapy for the young Riverview woman who survived a 2008 attack at the Bloomingdale Regional Public Library. The young woman, then 18, had driven up to the library book drop after hours when she was dragged from her car, raped and beaten. Last year, Kendrick Morris of Clair-Mel City was convicted of that crime and another rape and sentenced to 65 years in prison. His Bloomingdale victim was left with brain damage that took her vision and keeps her from walking, talking, or eating without a feeding tube. Proceeds from the tournament will help pay for intensive therapy and rehabilitation …
