DOT Announces Interstate 75 Ramp Work

Closures will begin tonight

Be prepared for traffic delays as the Department of Transportation repairs ramps leading to Interstate 75 starting this weekend. The DOT announced that the northbound I-75 exit to northbound U.S.  301 (Exit 254) will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, and from 11 p.m., Jan. 21, to 5 a.m., Jan. 24.  Traffic will be routed to the southbound U.S. 301 ramp, then will make a U-turn south of Bloomingdale Avenue to go north on U.S. 301. Joel's Steakhouse a Must-Dine

I'd rate Joel's a 4-star but only because they don't take reservations.

Now that we have gotten by this week's chicken news, let's discuss the good news.  Joel's Steakhouse,  1020 Bloomingdale Ave., located on the northeast corner of Bell Shoals Road and Bloomingdale Avenue in Plaza Bella, was a treat from the minute I walked in until the moment I left. I took my wife, Helen, and daughter, Allie, with me for my inaugural "column meal" and we arrived around 4:30 or so on a Friday afternoon.  There were only a few cars in the parking lot and, with the exception of a small bar crowd, the place looked deserted.  Suddenly, a hostess appeared from out of nowhere and greeted us with a huge smile and a warm welcome.  She was extremely personable, and seated me and my family right away.  I looked around to the corners …
