Teen Bicyclist Dies After Collision With Truck at U.S. 301, Bloomingdale Ave.

A second teen also was struck by the truck but received only minor injuries.

The intersection of U.S. 301 and Bloomingdale Avenue has claimed another life. A teenage Tampa bicyclist died July 28 when he collided with a pickup truck at the intersection. The crash occurred at 9:09 p.m., when Morris L. Taylor, 14, and Elijah W. Anderson, Jr., 15, were riding their bikes west on U.S. 301, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol. Taylor rode into the path of a Dodge Ram truck driven by Cornelius Dwayne Williams, 31, of Seffner, who was traveling north on U.S. 301. Taylor then collided with the truck and was ejected from his bike. He died at the scene. Anderson also was hit by the vehicle but received only minor injuries. I wish the article had reported that a CPR trained Angel stopped to render aid and was then assisted by at least 2 others in their fight to save this child. Tho they were not able to keep him alive, they were by his side as he passed. It's always important to note when strangers step up in these kinds of emergencies.   more ›
