Jeremy Rosado's Family, Fans Show Support Despite 'American Idol' Elimination

Hometown supporters of Valrico's Jeremy Rosado talked about the teen singer's bright future March 8 at the Brandon Ale House watch party.

In the end, there were tears and nothing but praise for Jeremy Rosado, whose family and friends stood by the "American Idol” hopeful, a Valrico resident and 2009 Durant High grad. At the Brandon Ale House on March 8, a modest-sized group of well-wishers clasped their hands and held their collective breath as “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez announced on behalf of her peers that Rosado’s televised journey had come to an end. “I wish I was here, I wish I was just there to hold him,” said his mother, Wendy Ocasio, who added that she had a brief talk with her son earlier in the day. “He said he will accept whatever God’s will is and he was at peace,” she said. "I totally believe great things are coming his way.” Chris Bates, the general …

Jeremy Rosado Eliminated on 'American Idol'

The judges decided the Valrico resident's performance last night wasn't "Idol" material.

It's the end of an "American Idol" dream for 2009 Durant High School graduate Jeremy Rosado. On tonight's "American Idol" show, Rosado was visibly saddened to learn judges Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez had decided he should be eliminated from the competition. When asked for a response by host Ryan Secrest, Rosado simply said, "Thanks. It's been awesome." The decision didn't come as a surprise to viewers. Earlier in the show, judge Steven Tyler said he thought Rosado's performance last night wasn't up to par and that he should be the one voted off tonight's show. "Jeremy deserves to go," said Tyler. Reacting to Tyler's comment, Rosado said, "It stinks. I know last night wasn’t my best." In addition to a less-than-…

Will Jeremy Rosado Continue on in the 'American Idol' Competition?

Will Jeremy Rosado advance to the next round of "American Idol" competition?

All day Wendy Ocasio was a nervous wreck, but who wouldn’t be in her shoes? Her son, Jeremy, finds out tonight on national television if his dream to become this season’s American Idol advances one round closer to fruition. “OK. Is he going home or staying?” Ocasio said in an interview March 8, hours before the 8 p.m. airing of the live results show on FOX television. “If he moves on, I’ll just move on right along with him. If he comes home, he’ll come home our American idol. Either way, it’s a great accomplishment.” Such were the sentiments as well last night at the “American Idol” watch party at the Brandon Ale House. There, Rosado’s family and friends gathered to root on the hometown favorite. Rosado, 19, is a student at the Brandon …

Rosado Advances in 'American Idol' as Wild-Card Draw

Rosado fell to the floor in tears before rushing to the judges for hugs.

He’s been called out for his “rich roots in gospel music and a tone that’s as smooth as butter.” "American Idol" hopeful Jeremy Rosado of Valrico advanced as a wild-card draw in the competition this week, along with Deandre Brackensick and Erika Van Pelt. Judge Jennifer Lopez broke into tears after Jeremy Rosado sang his heart out for one of the show's three wild card spots with a heart-wrenching rendition of Carrie Underwood's "I Know You Won't." For the first time in Season 11, each judge was allowed to send one person to safety as a wild card. More than 33 million votes were cast over Tuesday and Wednesday for the 25 contestants. The top 10 vote-getters were Blake High School student Shannon Magrane, Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, …

The 12 male finalists performed live Feb. 28, to be followed by the 12 female contestants Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Fox. "Jeremy, that was beautiful," Tyler told Rosado. Will Jeremy Rosado Get Picked During American Idol Tonight?

The judges picked 14 contestants last night and will choose 10 more tonight. Will Valrico's Jeremy Rosado be one of the chosen?

Wearing T-shirts bearing Jeremy Rosado's photo and favorite Bible verse, family and friends of the Valrico singer packed into the Brandon Ale House on Brandon Boulevard Wednesday night to cheer Rosado on during a two-hour edition of "American Idol." The Durant High School graduate wasn't chosen to be among the 24 finalists last night. However, judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson will choose 10 more finalists Thursday night during an hourlong show at 8 p.m. on Fox. Rosado's pastor at LifeChanging International Ministry, 2106 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Valrico, the Rev. Anthony Perez, said he's confident Rosado will be chosen to continue on in the "American Idol" competition. "I know God has plans for Jeremy to sing," said Perez…

Valrico Resident Heads to Hollywood for 'American Idol'

Jeremy Rosado wowed the judges with his rendition of Luther Vandross's "Superstar."

Durant High School graduate Jeremy Rosado was just 6 years old when he first took the stage.  “I can’t believe I’m sharing this,” said Rosado, 19.  “I loved Britney Spears. And it was bad. I was a little boy, probably 6, 7 years old, trying to sing and dance like her.” These days, the Valrico resident has his own style, which he exhibited to effect at the Savannah, GA, Season 11 auditions of “American Idol” when he sang Luther Van Dross’s “Superstar.” Judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson were duly impressed with Rosado’s performance, sending him on to competition in Hollywood. “When they gave me that golden ticket, I was kind of thinking they were talking to the girl that was waiting on deck to go after me, and maybe they …

Hulk Hogan Gives FishHawk Resident Ride of His Life

Doug Gilmore purchased the winning raffle ticket for a 2011 Camaro

The last time Doug Gilmore won anything was 20 years ago. "I won a clock radio," he said. "That's the only thing I can remember winning." So the FishHawk Ranch resident certainly wasn't expecting to win the 2011  Synergy Camaro on display at the Florida Strawberry Festival earlier this month. "I just figured I'd buy some raffle tickets because the money was going to a good cause," he said. He and his wife, Marie, were at the Strawberry Festival to see the classic rock group, The Doobie Brothers, when Gilmore spotted the bright green Camaro autographed by Hulk Hogan on display at the festival. Gilmore promptly purchased four raffle tickets for $20. "I never win things but I fell in love with that car," said Gilmore. "That's a concert I'll …
