A memorial service will take place Sunday at 1 p.m.
Brandon residents will say goodbye to longtime First Baptist Church of Brandon pastor, Dr. Fred Boehmer, at a memorial service Sunday, Nov. 11, at First Baptist, 216 N. Parsons Ave., Brandon. The service will take place at 1 p.m. The longtime Brandon resident died last week in Virginia following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He and his wife, Vida, had moved to Virginia to be closer to their children. Originally from Canada, Boehmer served as a pastor at a number of churches during his 40-year career. His last post was at First Baptist Church of Brandon where he took over as pastor in 1976 and retired 19 years later. He also served at churches in Tennessee, Texas and Connecticut where he baptized radio talk show host Don Imus. He …

Services for a 22-year-old Riverview man who died in a car crash Oct, 14 are scheduled Friday, Oct. 19 at the Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road. The Florida Highway Patrol says John Michael Reyna was driving his 1999 BMW west on the Selmon at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when he lost control of his car as he approached the 22nd Street exit ramp. Reyna collided with the steel guardrail and the BMW rotated clockwise, went across the westbound lanes and collided with the concrete barrier wall, the highway patrol said. The impact ejected Reyna, who was not wearing a seatbelt, and he was thrown over the barrier wall and onto 22nd Street below the overpass, the patrol said. Former Riverview High School Principal J. Vince Thompson died this week. Students and faculty will honor his memory tonight in the stadium named in his honor.
Students and faculty at Riverview High School will pay tribute tonight during the high school’s homecoming game to the school’s first principal, who died Wednesday, Oct. 3. During tonight’s matchup between Riverview and East Bay High School in J. Vince Thompson Stadium, current Principal Bob Heilmann will honor former Principal James Vincent Thompson who died at the age of 73. In addition, students plan to circulate a petition to rename the high school in his honor. Thompson, a resident of Sundance, was appointed to head the high school Jan. 20, 1998, after spending a number of years as principal of East Bay High School. The well-known Tampa Bay developer died Tuesday in North Carolina.
The man responsible for the development of Fish Hawk Trails and FishHawk Ranch had died. Well-known Tampa Bay developer Glen Edward Cross, 72, died July 24 in a car crash in North Carolina. According to High Country Press in North Carolina, Cross was killed in a multiple-car wreck on Beech Mountain Parkway involving a car hauler. A 1997 Chevrolet Dually truck towing two cars on a trailer was coming down the Beech Mountain Parkway at 10:20 a.m. when the cars disconnected from the trailer and struck two other cars along the road, including one drive by Cross. Cross, who lived in Fish Hawk Trails in Lithia, owned a summer residence in Banner Elk, N.C., with his wife, Sandy. Cross was the only fatality in the crash. Cross is responsible for …

The namesake of Randall Middle School, James D. Randall Jr., will be laid to rest July 17 following funeral services at Southside Baptist Church in Brandon.
Funeral services for James David Randall Jr., a legendary past principal of Brandon High School, a former president of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, and the namesake of the middle school in FishHawk, are scheduled for July 17 at Southside Baptist Church in Brandon. Randall, 82, a Korean War veteran, died July 13 at home, according to his online obituary at Southern Funeral Care. The Valrico resident, born Feb. 5, 1930 in Alabama, moved to Hillsborough County in 1955, where he started his long and illustrious career with the Hillsborough County School District as a teacher at what was then known as the Pinecrest School. Tyler Stich died June 15 when the car he was riding in lost control and flipped over on Kings Avenue south of Bloomingdale Avenue.
He loved cooking, playing baseball, skateboarding, swimming and video games. But, most of all, Tyler Michael Stich of Brandon loved spending time with his friends and family. Now those friends and family will gather to say goodbye to the teen who was killed in a car crash Friday, June 15 on Kings Avenue, south of Bloomingdale Avenue. A visitation for Stich will be held Saturday, June 23 at 6 p.m. at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon. A service will follow at 7:30 p.m. Stich reportedly died when the Ford Explorer he was riding in left the road and overturned. Stich, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the back seat.
