Junior Women to Present Scholarship

The Brandon Junior Woman's Club will host a Bunco for Education March 31.

The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club will again host Bunco for Education at Center Place on March 31, 2011.  

Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be available during the social hour beginning at 6 p.m. Bunco fun will begin at 7 p.m.   

Bring a friend and enjoy an evening of bunco with a 50/50, door prizes and raffle prizes.  This year bunco players will have an opportunity to purchase used paperback and hardback books.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by contacting Donna Griffin at donna.johnsongriffin@gmail.com. Or purchase online at www.thebjwc.com and a ticket will be mailed to you.  Tickets are also on sale at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon.

Proceeds from the night of bunco fun will go toward the scholarships awarded to senior high school girls who volunteer in the community and to the club’s adopted “school in need” – Kenly Elementary.  Each year the club purchases backpacks and school supplies for Kenly.

The club will again award a $500 scholarship to a senior high school girl who has volunteered in the community.

The scholarship application can be found at www.thebjwc.com. Click on “Community Service Programs," then click on Education.  Print the application and supply a 500-word essay on your most rewarding volunteer experience. List your community service, college goals, and provide two letters of recommendation.  Applications have to be postmarked on or before April 1.
