5 Things to Know Today, May 13

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. There's a 20 percent chance of rain today, so you might want to grab an umbrella. Today's temperatures will reach 92 degrees.

2. Hit the greens for a good cause. The Giving Hope Through Faith Foundation will host its sixth annual Zach Tucker Golf Scramble today with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at River Hills Country Club, 3943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico. The tournament is in honor of Zach Tucker, who died of a brain tumor. His mother, Sherry, started the foundation in 2007  for families facing hardships due to a cancer diagnosis. Since it began, the foundation has aided more than 185 families.

3. There's also another chance to raise funds for a good cause. The Trey Curry Foundation will host a Vine to Wine fundraiser, an evening of tasting provided by Premier Beverage, tonight from 7 to 10 p.m. at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview. Guests will enjoy food and bid on auction items to support A Kid's Place, a residential care facility for abused and neglected children. The cost is $50. Call 813-843-1833.

4. All That Jazz, free entertainment with Paul Frederick, will be presented at Savannah Court assisted living residence, 824 N. Parsons Ave., Brandon, Friday, May 13 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.  Call 813-643-6767  or visit www.SavannahCourtBrandon.com.

5. The Bloomingdale Teen Advisory Board is hosting a frightful night in the library just for teens. Teens will solve a murder mystery, share campfire stories, play games and more during Teen Night: Friday the 13th Spooktacular Friday, May 13 at 8 p.m. Registration is required and can be made at the Ask-Me Kiosk or by calling 813-273-3652. Participants must leave the library no later than 12:15 a.m. with a parent or guardian.
