5 Things to Know Today, April 15

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. The St. Stephen Yard Sale for Life will take place under the big tent at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico (south of the Bloomingdale Walmart and north of Boyette Road/FishHawk Boulevard), Friday and Saturday, April 15-16, from 8 a.m. to noon. No early birds.
 
Help the St. Stephen Respect Life Ministry raise funds to educate the parish and community about life issues. Parishioners have been doing some spring cleaning and have donated everything from clothes to books to furniture for this giant sale. There are also baby items, jewelry, toys, tools, household items and collectibles.

2. American Veterans Post 44 will host a fundraising golf tournament Friday, April 15, at Diamond Hills Golf Club, 13115 Sydney Road, Dover. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The tournament will be a shotgun scramble. The cost is $65 per player or $240 for a foursome. There will be prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin as well as raffles. 3. The St. Stephen Catholic Church Men's Club will host a fish fry each Friday during Lent at the church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Drive-through takeout will be available.

4. The Campo Family YMCA, 3414 Culbreath Road, Valrico, will host Mind Explorer for ages 7 to 11 Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. The program includes hands-on activities including crafts and games incorporating healthy lifestyles. 5. Friday is Pump It Up Pop In Playtime for preschoolers through kindergarten at Pump It Up, 729 A. W. Lumsden Road, in Oak Park Plaza in Brandon from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The session promotes social development and physical fitness while bouncing, sliding, climbing, and jumping on Pump It Up's giant, soft, interactive inflatibles. The cost for children age 2 to 6 is $8. Reservations are not required. Parents are free and are required to accompany the child. Socks and a signed waiver are required to play.
