Wednesday, July 4 is Independence Day, a federal holiday.
Here's a look at what's open and what's closed in Bloomingdale, Riverview, Valrico and Lithia and around Hillsborough County in observance of the holiday:
The majority of Hillsborough County and City of Tampa offices and facilities will be closed on Wednesday.
Closed facilities include the administrative offices of county government, neighborhood service centers, all libraries, all county-operated Head Start/Early Head Start Centers, recreation centers, senior centers and nutrition sites.
For residents who live in the unincorporated Hillsborough County Service Area, there will be no solid waste collection (including garbage, recyclables and yard waste) Wednesday.
Solid waste customers whose scheduled collection day falls on Wednesday may set out twice the amount of garbage, recyclables and yard waste on the next scheduled day for pick up of these items.
There will be no U.S. Postal Service delivery Wednesday.
Animal Services is hosting a red, white and blue bash for shelter pets on July 4 called "Flags & Fur ‘Til 4" at 444 N. Falkenburg Rd. in Tampa. From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the special event will feature adoptions at half-price. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, veterinary health check up, Hillsborough County pet registration tag and a free goodie bag.
While the shelter is open on the holiday for this event and lost pet search, the animal turn-in gate will not be open. A limited number of officers will be on call for animal emergencies only (813-744-5660). Normal shelter operations and hours will resume on Thursday, July 5 at 9 a.m.
