Tryouts Set for Tampa Bay Rain Dance Team

The Tampa Bay Rain, Tampa Bay’s only professional basketball team, will be holding interviews and auditions for its dance team on Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23.

Interviews will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. June 22 at the Tampa Bay Rain offices located at 1300 N. Westshore Dr., Suite 215. Interviews will be panel interviews.

On Saturday, June 23, auditions will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at – Bloomingdale, 3236 Lithia-Pinecrest
Rd., in Valrico.

Those who advance past the dance auditions phase will be invited to a five-day training camp where the final team will be selected throughout the training camp process.

Candidates wishing to audition for the Tampa Bay Rain Dance Team should obtain the registration form and auditions waiver form online. Additionally, a $25 registration fee must be paid prior to the auditions at tampabayraindanceteam.eventbrite.com. Upon paying the registration
fee, applicants will receive an email to select a specific time for their interview.

A color head and a full body shot (taken within the past six months, no larger than 5 by 7 inches) should accompany the registration form, along with professional and entertainment resumes. Applicants should bring all items with them to the interview on June 22. All candidates auditioning must attend both the interview and dance auditions to be considered.

Those auditioning must be 18 years old or older by June 22.

Judges will be focused on appearance, showmanship, dance ability and fitness. Applicants should have a dance or cheerleading background and will be expected to show dance technique and perform a short, choreographed routine taught by Tampa Bay Rain resident choreographers.

The routine will encompass jazz, hip hop, and high kick dance styles.
