Ice Bulls Fall Short To Gaither/Sickles, 5-3
The Bloomingdale Hockey Club, "Ice Bulls," play again Jan. 14
On Friday night at the Tampa Bay Skating Academy in Oldsmar, the Bloomingdale Ice Bulls fell short to Gaither/Sickles, 5-3.
Gaither/Sickles (10-2-0, Western Division) took an early lead on a goal by Steven Gotting (assisted by Fritz Daniel) at 14:43 in the first period. The first-period attack by Gaither/Sickles applied enormous pressure on Bloomingdale (10-3-0, Central Division), adding two more goals in the first period alone. On two separate power play goals, Jakob Forsell scored at 5:40 (assisted by Eric Klausner) and an unassisted power play goal by Zachary Koepsell with just 43 seconds remaining, giving Gaither/Sickles a commanding 3-0 lead.
After a defensive start to the second period, the Ice Bulls pulled within two goals as Brian Buckner (assisted by Messina) scored at 9:32 in the second. The Ice Bulls would once again see the lead grow more distant as Klauser (assisted by Forsell) added a late goal at 2:50 in the second to give Gaither/Sickles a 3-goal lead.

Bloomingdale would once again place the pressure on Gaither/Sickles by adding two goals in the third period. At 11:42, Brian Buckner scored an unassisted goal, his second of the game, and Joel Messina (assisted by Gagnon) cut the Gaither/Sickles lead to one goal after his goal at 6:20 in the third.
Although The Ice Bulls worked hard to cut into the Gaither/Sickles lead and a tie to force overtime, Gaither/Sickles Jakob Forsell scored his second goal of the night with 1:46 remaining to give them a 5-3 lead that would not be challenged again.
