Bloomingdale Looking Forward To Home Stand

Bulls baseball returns home as Bloomingdale faces Alonso Friday at 7 p.m.

Bloomingdale baseball returns home on Friday night as the Bulls host Alonso in a 6A Conference match-up.

Coming off a heart-breaking loss to Plant City on Tuesday night, Bloomingdale (5-4-0, third place, 6A District 8) will look to rebound against conference opponent Alonso (5-2-0, second place, 6A District 8) and get an early jump in the district standings.

Friday's match-up will be the first of two meetings for the two teams in the 2011 season.

Bloomingdale posts a 2-1 win-loss record in its previous three games with wins against Brandon and Riverview. They are also 3-2 when playing at home.

Alonso will come into Friday nights game with a perfect 3-0 record in its last three games, posting an impressive runs for versus against total of 36-8.

Both clubs are led by excellent batters. Most notable are:

Bloomingdale sophomore outfielder Dylan Gross who leads his team with a .545 batting average and eight runs batted in.

Alonso senior infielder Garret Lorenzo leads his team with a .571 batting average and two runs batted in.

Bloomingdale pitching continues to be led by senior Robby Kalaf (2-0, 30 K's, 0.00 ERA, 24.2 IP's). Alonso will bring a very potent, high-powered offense that will test the arms of the Bloomingdale pitching staff. The Alonso team currently stands out as among the best in the conference with a team batting average of .325.

Friday night's game will be played in Bloomingdale at 7 p.m.
