5K Run/Walk Fundraiser Benefits Bloomingdale High Bulls

Bulls football coach John Booth and family were top participants.

Fifty-six registered runners participated in Saturday's 5K run/walk to help benefit the Bloomingdale High School football program.

Proceeds from the race, held at Cimino Elementary, will go toward remodeling the team's existing locker room, updating the weight room and providing updated amenities for the team.

The race was organized two years in a row by Denise Dittfeld, whose teenage son and daughter also attend the school.

"We sat down with coach (John) Booth, trying to get the community to get involved more," Dittfeld said. "One parent suggested we start a 5K run for the football team." This year they were hoping to raise $500 to $1,000, she said.

Ten percent of the registration fees — which ranged from $5 to $25 — were set aside in appreciation for allowing the race at the Cimino Elementary venue.
