Wok Chi Stirs Up Over $2,600.00 for the Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO)

Wok Chi, the fresh casual Chinese restaurant in Regency Square in Brandon, Florida raised over $2,600.00 to benefit the Emergency Care Help Organization of Brandon (ECHO).  Wok Chi will be presenting ECHO with the check on Thursday, January 23 at 10:45am at Wok Chi (2420 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon).  The Check Presentation will be open to the public.

The money was raised as a part of Wok Chi’s Green Tea Initiative, the restaurant’s commitment to spreading joy through giving back to the community in addition to welcoming guests with a complimentary cup of hot, organic, freshly brewed green.  The ECHO Fundraiser ran from November 1 through December 31, 2013, and 5% of each stir fry purchase was donated to ECHO.

“We are thrilled at the response of the Brandon community to our cause to support ECHO,” said Rahul Chaubal, vice president of Operations of Wok Chi. “We know these funds are greatly needed, and we at Wok Chi are honored to help serve our community.”

About ECHO

ECHO Brandon Florida is a food pantry and clothing assistance source for residents of the greater Brandon area who have experienced a recent emergency.  Since its inception in 1987, ECHO FL has provided food assistance and clothing assistance to over 160,000 Brandon area residents, over half of whom were children.  When families experience an unexpected emergency, they are often faced with the decision of paying bills or buying food for their families.  Emergencies can come in all different forms such as a breadwinner losing a job, a person getting hurt or sick and being unable to work, employers cutting hours, and many other situations.  ECHO is here to help during those stressful times.

About Wok Chi’s Green Tea Initiative

It all started with some positive chi and a simple idea of how to spread it. We thought, if we could give everyone who came through our doors a token of appreciation—a free cup of hot, healthy, organic, freshly brewed green tea—we could make their day a little cheerier. That is how our Green Tea InitiativeSM was born. The tradition of welcoming guests into one’s home (or restaurant, in our case) is an expression of gratitude and hospitality. The more special we make you feel, the more contagious your smile is. We invite you to join us as we take our joy-spreading initiative to community outreach programs, gardens, fundraisers and food drives. Green tea equals good chi, and one cup really can transform the world.
