Newsome Students Bring Christmas to Migrant Children

Newsome students played Santa's elves for Pinecrest Elementary students

The children of migrant farmworkers attending Pinecrest Elementary School had a merry Christmas thanks to the efforts of two Newsome High School clubs.

The Newsome Beta Honor Society and the Newsome Teen Literacy Committee teamed up to bring toys and Christmas cheer to children and their families.

Pinecrest Elementary Principal Vicki Dotson, who is retiring this year, said the celebration was a great send-off for her.

The clubs teamed up with Bank of America and Delma Fuentes, the migrant worker resource person for the school, to ensure that each student received a toy of his choice and their preschool brothers and sisters received books.

Each family brought an authentic Hispanic dish for the feast.
