Newsome Football Rained Out

It was a rained-out night for the Newsome High School Wolves, who had been scheduled to face-off Friday, Aug. 23, against the Spoto High Spartans of Riverview, in a pre-season game.

Posted on the Newsome Football Facebook page was a thank you to to those who supplied and served a pre-game meal to the football players in the school's cafeteria.

Local business establishments touted on the page their after-game deals, including the newly opened Jake's Wayback Burgers of FishHawk, with a 10 percent "tackle this deal" student discount.

The newly opened Turn 2 Sports Restaurant off Lithia Pinecrest Road, across the street from Lithia Springs Elementary School, touted that it would stay open for all players, families and coaches after the game.

Noted on the Wolves' Facebook page was a missed opportunity for fans to purchase jewelry and sunglasses in support of the Newsome Boosters Club.  Fans are urged to check out the "sports time watches and jewelry" on the club's website, noting that "20 percent of the sales go back to the boosters to support the teams."

Also on sale, a $5 football program, which according to a Facebook post, had "literally just [come] in today [Aug. 23] prior to [the] game."

Next up for the Newsome High Wolves: Friday, Aug. 30, against Tampa Bay Tech, at  Tampa Bay Tech. Game time is 7 p.m.
