Enjoy Your Summer, But Think Football

Newsome High boosters want your support in preparation for the upcoming football season. Golf tournament, media guide, field house top topics.

It might be the start of summer but football season is not far away, which is why the folks at Newsome High School are busy at work making sure the team has what it needs — and can get — in community support.

Are you a booster? Plan to be one? Then the monthly booster meeting at Beef 'O' Brady's, in the Sweetbay-anchored Shoppes at FishHawk shopping center, across the street from the high school, is where you want to be Wednesday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m.

"PLEASE try to make it if you are in town," notes a post on the Newsome Football page on Facebook. "We would love the support and you can see all the great things that in the works for Newsome sports."

Also noted is the July 15 deadline for Newsome Football Media Guide Athlete Shout-Outs. "All players need to sell one of these or a business ad," according to the post. "Let's get us closer to the field house goal."

Paid shout-outs can include text and photos and will be printed in black-and-white in the 2013-14 football media guide.

In its quest to build a "state-of-the-art Newsome High athletic facility," Newsome football supporters are seeking media-guide advertisers, with prices ranging from $300 (for a half-page, black-and-white advertisement) to $1,000 (for a full-color back cover).

Park Square Pizza is recognized at "an ongoing sponsor of the football team" and advance notice is given for the First Annual Newsome Football Golf Tournament, benefiting the Newsome Athletic Boosters Field House. The Nov. 16 tournament at the Summerfield Crossings Golf Club is limited to 144 players.
