The contest honors the legacy of Jackie Robinson, who broke Major League Baseball's color barrier, and recognizes courage in the face of adversity.
Hanhan and his classmates were visited Tuesday by Robinson's daughter, Sharon, an author who organized the essay contest. As part of his prize, Hanhan receieved the World Series tickets and a laptop and was recognized at Tropicana Field on Tuesday night before the Tampa Bay Rays' game — the first pro sporting event he attended.
