Bloomingdale High School Students Do the 'Harlem Shake'

The school's television department, WBUL TV, has just released the school's latest YouTube sensation.

It began three years ago when Bloomingdale High School teacher Jim Anteau challenged his second-period television production class to shoot a video that involved the entire school.

With those marching orders, the TV production class recruited fellow students to dance and lip dub to the Jay Sean song, "Down," and posted it on YouTube Nov. 19, 2009, figuring it'd be viewed mostly by students and their parents.

To their surprise, the video attracted thousands of viewers from around the country. To date, nearly 138,000 people have enjoyed the students' efforts.

The next lip dub video proved even more popular. The TV production class filmed the students dancing and lip dubbing to the Journey song, "Don't Stop Believing," and posted it on Dec. 10, 2009. This video has had 427,812 views.

Thus began a school tradition known as Dance Party Friday.

To date, the TV production students have posted 145 videos including a wildly popular one featuring former Principal Mark West and Bloomingdale teachers performing Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It," in which the staff pokes fun at the bad habit of some students.

In the school's latest video posted Feb. 15, students perform their own rendition of the flash-mob dance craze to the Baauer song, "Harlem Shake."

I must admit, I really enjoyed the initial lip dub to "Don't Stop Bullievin'" and the teachers striking back with "We're Not Gonna Take It" much more than the recent "Harlem Shake." Perhaps I'm missing something.....
