Barrington Middle School Glee Club Hopes for More Performances

The newly formed glee club recently performed at Delaney Creek Lodge Assisted Living Facility and would like to schedule more performances.

The Barrington Middle School Glee Club, under the direction of  chorus teacher Nathan Drawdy, performed Feb. 12 for residents of Delaney Creek Lodge Assisted Living Facility in Brandon.

The 12-member club, newly formed by students last November, performed such songs as Journey's "Don't Stop Believing," Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" and Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas' "Wouldn't Change a Thing," as well as a personal song,, "Where It All Falls Down," that Drawdy wrote for his young daughter.

Accompanying the glee club were members of Barrington teacher Stephanie Martin's Family and Consumer Sciences class who passed out homemade valentines and sugar-free candy to residents.  Martin and her family visit Delaney Creek Lodge often and feel a special connection with the residents there because her grandparents lived there for five years.

Glee club member Chelsea Brewington, an eighth-grader at Barrington, stated that she enjoyed singing for the residents and hoped it brightened their day. "Music makes people feel good and I hope everyone enjoyed our songs," stated Brewington.

The Glee club rehearses every Monday and every halfday Wednesday after school. The members are learning a variety of songs and Drawdy hopes to have more performances lined up in the near future.
