Aquatic Center to Host Ribbon Cutting for Academic Enrichment Center

The opening will take place Friday, Jan. 18 at noon.

The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center, together with the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, will host an official ribbon cutting for the center's new Academic Enrichment Center Friday, Jan. 18 at noon at 405 Beverly Blvd., Brandon.

The Academic Enrichment Center, made possible through funding from the Saunders Foundation and Colwill Engineering & Technologies, will house 10 iPad learning stations and a Smart Board.

This new technology will offer innovative educational curriculum applications to the center's early childhood learning program, After-School All-Stars and summer camp programs and the TRIDENT program for intellectually disabled youth and adults, impacting more than 200 students per day.

“The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center has led the way for many years in bringing quality, cutting-edge athletic and educational programming to our community’s youth, and this new Academic Enrichment Center truly places us in the 21st century,” said BSAC Executive Director Chuck Burgess.

Kevin Baker and his company, Florida Business Interiors, performed the design work, putting together the color schemes, carpeting and furniture plans.

"The new look brings a modern, creative feel to the learning environment, a very important concept as we approach our company’s 50th anniversary this spring," said Burgess.
