Pets for Vets: Adopt Today at Hillsborough County Animal Services

The shelter will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Many county government offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day today but Hillsborough County Animal Services will offer special holiday hours and a Pets For Vets special to honor those who serve our country.

On Monday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Animal Services will offer half-priced pet adoptions to all active or retired military members - the Pets For Vets special. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, Hillsborough County registration tag and veterinary health check.

All Veterans Day adopters during Pets For Vets, both military and civilian, will receive a patriotic pet goodie bag, and all adult felines (age 1 year and older) may be adopted for just $20.

To honor the service men and women now serving abroad, children are asked to stop by the special greeting card and coloring table in the shelter's main lobby. A U.S. Army Vietnam veteran now volunteering for Hillsborough County Animal Services will send all card creations, pet depictions and letters of support from local kids to soldiers overseas.

Please note: There will be no animal turn-ins during the Veterans Day event.
