MacDill Officers' Spouses' Club Seeking New Members

MacDill Air Force Base is aiming to increase membership in the organization.

All military families need support whether it's a time of war or peace, and the MacDill Officers' Spouses' Club (MOSC) is dedicated to doing just that.

MOSC is a social group for spouses, with the objective to make new friends, nurture existing relationships and to raise funds to support military and local charities.

Because of the number of commands located at MacDill Air Force Base, the Officers' Spouses' Club includes all military branches. Membership is open to spouses of active-duty officers, retirees and civillians G5-9 and above.

Spouses of active-duty reservists and national guardsmen are also welcome.

The MOSC seeks to establish ties within the community and a sense of belonging with other military families.

The club holds monthly luncheons on the third Thursday of most months starting in September and ending in May.

Locations for the luncheons vary to accommodate those who live at MacDill and the surrounding areas of Tampa.

Guests are welcome to the luncheon with a reservation.

In addition to the luncheons, members also can join activity groups such as a book club, bunco group and under 4 playgroup.  More special activity groups will be forming in the future.

The MOSC is kicking off its 2011-12 membership drive with a Meet & Greet Mixer at Harbor Bay on the MacDill Welcome Center's campus, Sept. 15. The mixer will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The new welcome center is located at 8414 Fortress Drive, MacDill AFB (located to the left of Tinker Elementary School). There is a charge of $15 per person to attend the mixer.
