Public Meeting Set on After-School Program Changes

A series of public meetings are being held to accept public comment and to inform parents and community partners about recommended changes to the after-school program offered by the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department.

The Roundtable to Plan Services for the Children of Hillsborough County developed these recommendations to maximize the county’s financial and staffing resources, take full advantage of the community resources already providing out-of-school time activities, and increase the number of children able to participate in after-school programs due to financial assistance.

In addition to providing comment on the recommendations, those attending these meetings will learn about proposed options and changes to the county’s after-school program, how to apply for financial assistance, and what to look for in quality after-school or summer programs.

Locally, a meeting will be held Wedneday, June 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Brandon Community Center, 502 E. Sadie St. in Brandon.
County staff will be available to supervise children.

All information presented will be the same at each meeting so parents and community partners have the option to attend any meeting.
