The East Hillsborough Democratic Club will meet Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Barnacles, 926 Providence Road, Brandon.
Craig Latimer, chief of staff to the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, will be the featured speaker. He will discuss preparations for the 2012 election cycle, including poll worker recruitment and training, voter education, polling sites, controversial changes in early voting and vote-by-mail procedures, and Hillsborough County’s status as a "covered jurisdiction," subject to oversight to ensure its compliance with the Voting Rights Act 1965.
