The former state Senate president is about to announce he'll run for the seat being vacated by Ronda Storms, TBO.com reports.

The former state Senate president is set to announce his candidacy for the seat vacated by Valrico's Ronda Storms earlier Friday, TBO.com reports in its Fresh Squeezed Politics blog.

Storms, a Republican, . She will oppose incumbent Rob Turner, who is facing a sexual harrassment scandal.

According to TBO:

"Lee said he’s had numerous contacts from local Republicans since news broke of a sexual harassment complaint about Property Appraiser Rob Turner suggesting he run for property appraiser, but he didn’t wish to do that."

Lee told the news site he had been in discussions with Senate leaders for some time about possibly running for Storms' seat, and those discussions picked up Friday when Storms announced her departure.
