When deputies arrived on the scene of the crash, they observed a Honda hatchback fully engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire, deputies were unable to render assistance to the vehicle's occupant, McGriff.

The sheriff's office says Jeffrey Scott Bair, 46, was driving a 2001 Ford F250 when he struck the Honda hatchback, killing McGriff. Bair has been charged with DUI manslaughter.
