Sun City Center Woman Dies in U.S. 301 Crash

The wreck closed the intersection of U.S. 301 and Falkenburg Road for about an hour July 2.

A 79-year-old Sun City Center woman is dead following a July 2 accident involving a 2003 Mack truck driven by a Temple Terrace man.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the truck, owned by TNS, Jr. Hauling of Riverview, was heading north on U.S. 301, just south of Falkenburg Road in the left turn lane when its brakes failed. The driver, W.L. Williams, 36, of Temple Terrace, attempted to avoid a crash by entering the grassy median and southbound lanes of U.S. 301.

At that point, the truck ran into the path of a 2004 Acura driven by Priscilla Munsch, 34, of Riverview. When the two vehicles collided, nearly head-on, the Acura rotated counterclockwise and struck a 2005 Kia driven by the Sun City Center woman, the report said. The truck also struck the woman’s car.
