Update: Bloomingdale High Student Stable After Getting Run Over By Jeep

The 14-year-old boy was apparently "horsing around" when he was hit and suffered leg injuries, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Update, 7:15 p.m.:

A 14-year-old Bloomingdale High School student is in stable condition after he was run over and wedged underneath an SUV on Tuesday afternoon at the school, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Dylan Michael Torrie, of Brandon, was "horsing around" and playing a joke on the 16-year-old driver of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee as he laid down on the roadway in front of the car as it was exiting the student parking lot, sheriff's office spokesman Larry McKinnon said.

The sheriff's office said it received an emergency call around 3:19 p.m., and Hillsborough County Fire Heavy Rescue responded and lifted the car off Torrie. He was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for injuries to his legs, according to a media release.

Hillsborough County School Board will be conducting a review of the incident, McKinnon said. The driver is not expected to be charged.

A student was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon at , severely injuring his legs, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's office spokesman Larry McKinnon told Patch the student, a 14-year-old boy, "was horsing around in front of the car," a Jeep Cherokee, and laid down on the pavement in front of it. The 16-year-old female driver, who did not see the boy, struck him, McKinnon said.

The boy was taken to Tampa General Hospital and was in stable condition,  McKinnon said.

The student's name and the identity of the driver have not been released.

The sheriff's office reported it received a call around 3:19 p.m. from the school, 1700 E. Bloomingdale Ave., regarding a traffic crash with injuries.
