Sheriff's Office Seeks Information in Double Homicide in Progress Village

The shootings took place in last night during a teen party.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is seeking witnesses to a shooting in Progress Village last night that resulted in two deaths.

On July 30 at approximately 12:30 a.m., HCSO received a 911 indicating shots were fired at or near 5127 U.S. 41 S. in Riverview.  When the first deputies arrived, they found more than 100 people in the streets, running in all directions.

Deputies began searching for victims and quickly located one female victim deceased on scene. She has been identified as Iesha D Washington, 18, of 8308 Bahia St., Tampa.

Craig A. Thompson, 22, of 5602 Charles Drive, Tampa, also was found shot and was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he died a short time after he arrived. Both victims had at least one gunshot wound.

Preliminary information is that a large group of teens had gathered for some type of party when shots rang out, resulting in the two victims being shot. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are on scene interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene.

Detectives are following up on leads on suspects and trying to determine the motive of the shooting. At this time there is no indication this incident is gang related.
