Sheriff's Office Advises Caution During Bad Weather

The storm has resulted in a number of accidents and downed trees.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and emergency rescue crews are keeping busy, responding to a number of weather-related emergencies.

Residents are urged to stay indoors and off the roads as the storm continues into the afternoon. There have been reports of hail in the Bloomingdale Patch area in addition to heavy winds and rain.

Tampa Electric is reporting that approximately 60,000 customers are out of
service at this time as a result of today's storms.  At this time, TECO is still
being impacted by the weather and is not able to provide estimated
restoration times until the weather system passes out of the area.

  • 7911 Dr. King Jr. Blvd. - possible transformer on fire/advising trees catching on fire as well
  • 56th Street and Dr. King Jr. Boulevard - Power line down in roadway - not on fire
  • Seffner Valrico Road and Cactus Circle - tree blocking roadway.
  • Lakeview Avenue and Tomberlin Avenue - Tree down on Lakeview  blocking roadway
  • Wheeler Road West  and Parsons Avenue South - Power line down in roadway
  • Ravenwood Drive and Orange Lawn Drive - Power line down across the roadway
  • Taylor Road North and Windhorst Road West - Tree across the road and wire down
  • 78th Street South and Causeway Boulevard - Traffic crash with injuries, truck flipped.
