Sheriff Collecting Prescription Drugs to Fight Abuse

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is taking back prescription drugs this Saturday.

As part of an ongoing effort to crack down on illegal pill mills and prevent prescription drug abuse, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office once again is taking part in Operation Medicine Cabinet Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

On Sept. 29, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Tampa Police Department, the Temple Terrace Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance, will collect unused or expired prescription medications from residents to prevent potentially dangerous drugs from getting into the wrong hands.

The unused prescription drugs will be collected at several locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents will be able to drop off any prescription medications they no longer use and can remain anonymous, no questions asked.

The Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance supports this take-back initiative and will provide volunteers and educational materials at the collection sites.
