Riverview Man Arrested in Tampa Shooting

Tampa Police have a suspect in custody after a shooting on Saturday morning in Southeast Seminole Heights.

Update: Juan Cabrera has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, according to a report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, issued at 4:33 p.m. Oct. 8.

A Tampa man is in a hospital in stable condition after a shooting that took place Saturday morning in Southeast Seminole Heights, Tampa Police said in a news release.

Police received a call at 7:34 a.m. from a staff member at the BP gas station located at North Nebraska Avenue and East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The caller reported that a customer had been shot. Police responded and discovered that the shooting had actually occurred at the Outlaw Motorcycle Clubhouse located at 4007 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa.

A vehicle belonging to the suspect, Juan Jose Cabrera, 46, of 10134 Somersby Dr., Riverview, was sitting in the parking lot and he was believed to still be inside, police said. The department's Tactical Response Team was activated to make entry and arrest the gunman, but Cabrera surrendered to police prior to the entry.

Investigators believe an argument occurred between the suspect and the victim, Edward Victoria, 28, of 8730 N. Himes Ave., Tampa, and that the suspect armed himself with a handgun and shot the victim once in the stomach and once in the leg.

Cabrera was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.
