Motorcyclist Arrested on Bloomingdale Avenue with 4.7 Pounds of Pot

A witness told the sheriff's office that Michael Thomas Carter tried to hide the marijuana in the Walgreens parking lot.

A motorcyclist is facing drug charges after being discovered with 4.7 pounds of marijuana Sept. 29 following an accident at the intersection of Bloomingdale Avenue and Lithia-Pinecrest Road.

Michael Thomas Carter, 25, of 15817 Sorawater Dr., Lithia, rear-ended a car on his motorcycle. Before sheriff's deputies arrived, a witness said he hid his helmet, backpack and shoes in the Walgreens parking lot at the intersection.

A deputy retrieved the items and Carter reportedly admitted there was marijuana in the backpack. Deputies found 4.7 pounds of pot with a street value of $16,000 along with $1,000 in cash.

Carter was taken to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. He's charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and drug paraphernalia and was ticketed for careless driving. He was released from jail on a $2,500 bond.
